If you have never before worn skates, or would just like to refresh your beginner to advance-beginner skills, then find an IISA-certified instructor who teaches skills from their standard curriculum, from basics like gear and safety, where to skate, stances, how to stop, to strides, parallel turns, grass and spin stops. I doubt I might have come to make such a recommendation had I not first earned my certification, but after seeing my students overcome long-ingrained habits that prevent them from advancing to the next level, I have seen what lessons can do.
